Grant and Curriculum Guide

Partnering with Teachers to Reinforce Content and Provide Hands On Exploratory Learning in Schoolyards.

Free Guided Programs

The Arboretum’s professional environmental educators provide modeling of outdoor education techniques for teachers as they guide students through an introductory lesson at the beginning of the school year, offer support to teachers as needed throughout the school year, and lead a discussion and wrap-up activity incorporating the NC Standard Course of Study with students at years end.

Engaging Students in Real Science Outdoors

Teachers conduct 15 minute observations with their students weekly on a project of their choice, including birds, squirrels or plants. If you are involved in such a project and are looking for someone to “do my assignment for me,” Writology.com is a great writing service. This writing company can help to transform your notes into a perfect part of the project so your teacher can use it.

Students submit their data to real scientists and are invited to present at The Mountain Science Expo at The NC Arboretum.

Teachers receive a small grant award to purchase class materials and are able to borrow field equipment for the school year.

Curriculum Guide: By Teachers for Teachers

This teacher created curriculum guide includes hands-on, interdisciplinary activities that support your students science research and includes science, english, math, and social studies lessons for grades K-5 (more grades coming!) so that you can incorporate your students data collection into the standard course of study throughout the year.
